Bethany Lutheran Reviews

This is our sixth year at Bethany Lutheran School and we're not even Lutheran! It is worth the tuition to send our child to a Christian environment that offers a challenging academic program. The faculty is wonderful, led by a very talented principal.

Don't know why more people haven't reviewed the school recently, but here's ours. We enrolled our daughter last year in the preschool. So far, its great. We knew it was the school for us when we spoke with the Director. Teachers are great for the most part. Since it's a 'play-based' learning approach, its hard to tell where the kids are at compared to some of the other public pre-schools. Then again, in any pre-school, we want our kids to focus the foundation of sharing, developing social awareness, and other interpersonal dynamics. They'll have the rest of their lives to focus on the academics--although they are being taught the basics at Bethany too. its just not shoveled down their throats. That, coupled with the kids being introduced to a 'higher-level' of authority, was the icing on the cake to us. She's learned about morals and ethics echoed by the staff.

Bethany Lutheran Long Beach is the best school environment I have ever experienced. My child as well as the whole family flourishes yearly as we move through each year. The staff makes sure the children get the best education as well as nuture their spiritual and cultural awareness. I highly recommend to all.

This is an excellent pre-school. My daughter has learned so much. And the teachers are fabulous!

Very good communication system in the upper grades-we receive a progress report every week! Music program is awesome, sports program is improving!

This is a great school. I would recommend it to anyone interested in a caring and spiritual school. The quality of the academic is very good and there is a high level of parent involvement.

Both my children attended Bethany Lutheran for middle school (grades 7 and 8) before going on to Valley Christian High School. I really liked the low class sizes (26 students) and the fact that both grades were served by the same team of teachers. I felt that the teachers knew and cared for my children, as opposed to public middle school, where teachers have no opportunity to know their students well. I also felt that my children were well prepared for Valley, which is very tough academically. The weakest academic point might be writing---I never felt that there was enough writing done. Private school is never cheap, and there always seemed to be this little charge or that little cost, on top of the tuition, but overall I'm glad I sent my daughter and son to Bethany Lutheran for middle school.

My child has been going to Bethany Lutheran School for a year now, and I can honestly say that I am very pleased with the acedemic program at this school. The teachers make the work challenging enough for the students to exceed expectations. My child loves this school and his teacher. The parent/teacher involvement is excellent! I have never been so 'in the know' of what/how my child is doing on a daily basis than here at Bethany. The website is so informative for parents and students, and the teachers keep the parents well informed either via email or weekly updates that go home. The students do get a lot of work on a daily basis, but my son doesn't mind and neither do I. I would rather have my son challenged than do minimal work that doesn't make him think.

Excellent program, education and staff. Basketball gym, computer science, and Spanish is offered as a secondary language. Safe environment.

Really love the addition of off-site visits that the Principal and staff have added. My 3rd grader will now get to go to Sacramento in 4th grade, on a tall ship for a night in 5th, 3 day camp in 6th, Catalina Island biology camp in 7th and Astrocamp in 8th. Mrs. K, our child's 3rd grade teacher is incredible. Our worst experience with the school after school drive through to pick up kids and occassional after school mayhem in extended day care.

My kids (8th grade & 4th grade) love the school. Many opportunities for growth academically and socially. The principal is new, but approachable and family oriented. Safe, updated campus and strong Christian influence. I wish they gad a high school to continue on to.

Bethany Lutheran School brings out the best in my two children, who have attended since Kindergarten. The staff is both experienced and professional and the campus is warm, inviting and safe.

Bethany Lutheran has been in the business of Christian education since 1947, faithfully serving the families of the Lakewood/Long Beach area and adapting to their needs as times have changed. We are proud to have multiple generations of students passing through our doors: on Grandparent's Day this year, one of our grandmas was a former student! God has blessed the Bethany community with awesome families, faculties and support staff. Come and see for yourself what makes Bethany a special place.

My children have been enrolled at Bethany since preschool (10 years). This is a wonderful school with an awesome staff. My 2 kids are excelling in their education at Bethany with thanks to the teachers and the worship team. Thanks.

Bethany was a decemt school when my children were younger. As they got older, they started to dislike the school. I wanted my children to go to a Christian school, but they disliked religion during their time at Bethany. They went to a Christian high school, and loved it there. The sports teams need to be more challenging. My daughter didnt feel as if she was on a team when she went there. I think Bethany needs help.

I have 3 children attending this school - one in 8th grade, 6th , and 4th - and they all love the school. They people are very friendly and it is a beautiful campus.
